Wau County Commissioner in Western Bahr El Ghazal State directed all Payams to use the local labour force to cultivate 200 acres of land in the coming rainy reason.
Eliah Kamilo Dimo made the directive while addressing the crowd at Abushaka Payam headquarters’ opening on Friday, saying they would evaluate Payams at the end of the year on the effectiveness of the production, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
Abushaka Paramount Chief Anthony Abushaka said the presence of cattle in Wau County would undermine the plan to cultivate 200 acres of land, requesting deployment of enough police force to sweep out cows in the area.
Wau County community for several times disputed with armed cattle owners whom they accused of violating agreements on gracing land.
