The Rector of St Lawrence Minor Seminary in Rejaf of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba described Lent as an important season in the teaching of the Catholic faith.
Presiding over English mass at St Joseph’s Parish on Sunday, Fr Erkolano Lodu Tombe said Lent is a time of prayers and asking for pardon from God, Radio Bakhita reported.
The Rector called on world bodies engaging on manufacturing weapons to change from making guns and selling them to Africa for killing one another.
Fr Lodu preached that Christians should at the Lenten season transform from the weaknesses of division and tribalism to reach Easter with clean hearts.
Fr Lodu appealed to the faithful of St Joseph and Juba in particular and South Sudan in general to pray for the church, the country and the government, assuring that with prayers nothing would be impossible with God.
