United Nations World Food Programme or WFP Executive Director who concluded a three-day visit to South Sudan said they run short of 250 million Dollars to operate their programmes in South Sudan for the next six months.
In a statement Ertharin Cousin described the shortage as ‘the difficult news’ having no enough money to continue providing food aid and school feeding programme to ensure hope in the country.
The Executive Director added that they need donors help; revealing that 100 percent of WFP is voluntarily funded, urging the world to recognize that there is hope in South Sudan.
He said their visit to South Sudan is an alert to the world that three million South Sudanese the WFP is trying to reach are people, not just statistics.
Director Cousin observed that the longer the conflict continues the easier for the world to begin to think of South Sudan simply as a cost or a statistic.
