Twelve Collo militia members referred to as Collo Defence Force previously fighting the government in Upper Nile State against land grabbing have responded to President Salva Kiir’s amnesty decree.
Militia team leader also former national Information Ministry Training & Research Director Gwado Joseph Adar told CRN that responding to the amnesty means coming together for amicable resolution of land grabbing which threatens national fabric.
He explains that Collo land occupation by some communities has been a chronic problem and that by putting arms down, they believe President Kiir is be able to resolve the land question.
Mr Gwado adds that they took arms against the government because some land grabbers were boasting that should Collo need their land they must use force.
He discloses that Collo land has been occupied by some displaced intruders for the last ten years.
Reports indicate that about 18 Collo militia members have so far responded to the president’s amnesty and that more are expected.
