Tonj South County Commissioner in Warrap State threatened to disarm communities if they start fighting among themselves to avoid rampant killings.

William Wol Mayom said disarmament is the only option to keep peace among Tonj communities, adding that community police would be the only force handling guns to protect lives and property of people, Radio Don Bosco reported.

Commissioner Wol dismissed claims that the 400 recruits in Wanalel training centre would be taken to fight the opposition force, clarifying that they would only be stationed at Bomas to support the Local Government and executive chiefs.

The Commissioner made the comments after an incident which left one person dead, a girl wounded and four people arrested in relation to the incident in Wanalel Payam.

He challenged Tonj communities for wasting time on senseless killings rather than focusing on alarming hunger.
