Central Equatoria State Education Gender Director while addressing the launch of ‘back to learning’ campaign on Friday in Yei, called for increment of teachers’ salaries.
Elizabeth Philip said construction of better schools, training of teachers and better payment would lead to delivery of quality educational services, Radio Easter reported.
She believes effective implementation of ‘back to learning’ initiative and teachers’ improved payment would encourage them to adhere to their profession diligently.
Ms Elizabeth advised parents to value equal education for both girls and boys in school, calling on school drop-outs, elders and people of all ages to resume their studies.
State Education Minister Gombu Wani said they are working in collaboration with the national government and development partners to streamline teachers’ pay roll and provision of better learning structures.
The Minister appealed to parents to provide land and build accommodation facilities for teachers to enable them comfortably perform their profession in good faith.
