Central Equatoria launches ‘back to learning’ campaign

Central Equatoria government in collaboration with development partners on Friday launched state ‘Back to learning’ campaign in Yei under the theme: ‘Education today, success tomorrow’ aiming at eradicating illiteracy.
 
State Cabinet Affairs Minister Hastin Yokwe, who represented governor Clement Wani Konga, expressed government’s commitment to avail education services to citizens including drop outs and elders among others, Radio Easter reported.
 
State Education Minister Gombu Wani said the initiative seeks to sensitize and mobilize teachers and community leaders on the need to support and enroll children in schools.
 
Yei River Education Director Philip Taban Issa hailed the government and UNICEF for choosing the County to launch the project, lamenting few schools with increasing number of pupils.
 
The officials made the comment at Yei Freedom Square during the launching of ‘Back to learning’ initiative.
 
The occasion drew together fifty primary schools, church representatives, local and state government officials.
