UNESCO launches South Sudan Journalism Students’ Press Clubs

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO Club is launching South Sudan Journalism Students Press Clubs on Friday in Juba.
 
In a statement extended to CRN it said the clubs comprised of Journalism Students from all Universities, Media Institutes and Colleges in South Sudan.
 
It is a joint effort between the UNESCO Club in South Sudan, Information Ministry, Association of Media Development in South Sudan or AMDISS, Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJOSS and South Sudan General Students Union.
 
The clubs aim to expand the space for freedom of expression, increase the professionalism of young journalists and contribute to strengthening the media capacity in the country.
 
It would provide the much needed platform for young journalists to start their career through an open and participatory communication forum that enhances their skills.
 
The clubs would improve quality of professional press stories balanced and accurate production by young journalists and a new space for young media practitioners to be mentored and effectively engaged with established media houses and all stakeholders.
 
The Club in South Sudan is part of UNESCO global clubs and associations comprising of individuals who believe in its ideals and seek to further them through education, culture, science, communication and information among communities in UNESCO Member states
