France deplored South Sudan warring parties’ failure to arrive to peace in the recent talks that ended in a deadlock last Friday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The French Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday said “We renew our support for the mediation efforts of the African Union Inter-Governmental Authority to allow for a peaceful settlement”.
It added that “France will support all initiatives in this area,” noting that those who violate international humanitarian law or human rights would be brought to justice locally or in front of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
The fighting in South Sudan caused tens of thousands of deaths and forced millions from their homes while several rounds of talks failed to yield any progress.
