Initiative for Peace Commission Association on Monday launched a nationwide women rights campaign under the theme: ‘We are not the conflict’.
In a press release extended to CRN the campaign aimed at advancing actions against gender-based violence focusing on sexual assault, by spreading the word that ‘one victim is too many’.
It is also intended to re-awaken women and girls to effectively tackle issues related to gender-based violence and reflect the belief that it is not just an issue involving crime committed by a perpetrator against a victim, but also they have a role to play.
The campaign seeks to engage women and all communities’ members to diligence advocacy for women legal rights and to hold perpetrators accountable.
It said UNMISS report indicated that the government and opposition forces committed acts of rape and other forms of sexual violence against women.
