Ezo Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan or ECSSSS organized a three-day peace convention in Tombura County, Western Equatoria under the theme: ‘Listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace and God’s love, faith will be with you’.
Bishop John Zowa said the convention which opened on Friday was to educate communities on the importance of peace, and that South Sudanese this time need more civic education on peaceful coexistence rather than violence, Radio Anisa reported.
He added that maintenance of peace should start at grassroots and spread to all levels without discrimination, nepotism and ethnicity.
Tombura County Commissioner Babiro Charles Gbamisi appreciated the initiative of peace in his county and thanked the ECSSS for the program and that it would enable people to stay in harmony.
The convention which concluded on Sunday with prayers and healing, the first of its kind in Tombura, attracted people within and outside South Sudan including Pentecostal, Lutheran, Dinka Congregation, Catholic denominations including DR Congo and Central African Republic.
Religious leaders including Bishop Samuel Enosa Peni of Nzara, Bishop Peter Munde Yacobo of Yambio, Bishop John Zowa of Ezo and State Legislative Assembly Speaker Bage James Elisa attended the occasion.
