Nuba Mountains’ residents in South Kordofan State of Sudan on Sunday celebrated the International Women’s Day amid threats from Khartoum government under the theme ‘Strong women, sustainable peace’.
Women Union Leader Laila Karim Tima expressed that women are capable to participate in politics and public affairs, condemning any violence against women, especially in the Nuba Mountains, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
She called on men to respect the Women’s Day.
The women leader said females have the right to express their grievances so that the world addresses them.
Last year, Nuba Mountains celebrated the International Women’s Day in Dalami County despite intensive aerial bombardments in the area.
