South Sudan Presidency says it is not mindful of United Nations or UN Security Council sanctions resolution.

Minister in the Office of the President Awan Guol Riak told journalists in Juba that the government was surprised, unhappy and disappointed to realise that United States, the soul behind South Sudan’s birth championed the process of UN sanctions.

The presidency claims that peace remains its concern and that it will continue to look for it.

Minister Guol told the press in Juba that no progress was made when President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his former deputy Dr Riek Machar Teny met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia until Friday midmorning of March 6th.

The presidency declined to agree to federal system of governance in South Sudan among other issues, arguing that it should be tackled later in permanent constitution making process.

SPLM/A in Opposition maintains that federal system of governance should be applied during the proposed transitional government and that new constitution of federal republic should operate.
