Residents of Lasu Payam rejected admission of new 48 households to the existing eight thousand refugees in the area.
The community complained that the presence of the current immigrants resulted into massive deforestation and exploitation of local resources, Radio Easter reported.
They also accused the Refugee Affairs Commission of lack of communication, cooperation and coordination with the local community.
The Commission’s Field Manager Martin Lo-Matayo said they did not demand an extra land apart from the one given to the refugees for food production.
