Eastern Equatoria students emerged for first time as the best in Sudan National School Certificate Examinations.

State Minister for Education, Michael Lopukei Lotyam, broke the news of the students’ supper performance yesterday at Torit Day Secondary School, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Eastern Equatoria students scored a 99.4 percent pass mark bringing it to the top position in the whole nation.

Minister Lopukei said the state had been maintaining position number three over the last four years.

He said the students who excelled in the examinations were from Chukudum, Loa and Torit.

The top 10 students were awarded gifts including novels, dictionaries, geography and physics text books, electronic calculator and an English Practice Handbook.

The minister also donated 1000 Sudanese Pounds to Torit Day, 700 to Loa Secondary in Magwi County and 500 to Chukudum Secondary in Budi County.
