The National Council of Ministers in its regular sitting on Friday regretted what it described ‘relentless attacks’ by SPLM/A in Opposition in Upper Nile region where Unity and Upper Nile States lie.
Acting Government Spokesperson Rebecca Joshua Okwaci told journalists that there was shelling and attacks at Renk and Nasir towns on Thursday evening, saying it was ‘very much regretted’.
She added that government security has sensed some suspicious activities of concern along South Sudan and Sudan border threatening security.
The Acting Spokesperson said the cabinet learnt with regret that pastoralists and crop growers in Central Equatoria State are engaging in bloody conflict.
Minister Joshua described continuous conflict between pastoralists and crop growers ‘unfortunate’ and ‘regrettable’ in the country.
She disclosed that security operatives have arrested a notorious gang of eight criminals in Juba, awaiting prevalence of justice.
The Acting Government Spokesperson told the press that President Salva Kiir’s recent visit to Lakes State and subsequent peace conferences have reduced the level of insecurity.
