Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop while presiding over Eucharistic celebration on Ash Wednesday at St Mary Yambio Parish, called for conversion from bad to good deeds during the Lenten period.

Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala urged Christians to fast and pray for holy life and that Lent reminds Christians of their biblical origin, Radio Anisa reported.

He added that the season is holy for the Christian community that believes in God and that Christians are obliged to help the poor during this period.

The Bishop advised all faithful not to show off their fasting, prayers or help the poor because God is looking into the hearts not the outside part.

He stressed that Lent is a very difficult moment because Christians are asked to avoid things they like most and give away to those who cannot afford them.

Hundred of Christians turned up for Ash Wednesday celebration and are preparing for the first way of cross on Friday.
