Central Equatoria education authorities said examination results for the Sciences section in Sudan Leaving Certificate were discouraging.
The State Ministry of Education presented yesterday the results from the exams that give or deny access to further studies with two catholic secondary schools scoring 100 percent passes.Minister Manase Lomole told the press that Science students’ performance was weak and in dire need of improvement.
Mr. Lomole explained that only one Sciences section candidate appeared in the top 15 best students in the final exams.
He said his government needed to train and recruit qualified science teachers to improve sciences education.
Mr. Lomole revealed sciences students lacked text books, chemicals for experiments and a conducive learning environment.
Over 75 percent of Arts students passed the final exams against 69 percent of the Sciences section.
