Minority Leader recommends dissolution of Election Commission

National Legislative Assembly or NLA Minority Leader on Tuesday recommended dissolution of the National Election Commission for lack of independence, neutrality, credibility and failure to recognize its role.
 
Onyoti Adigo Nyikwec told CRN that the council of ministers is not in the right place to postpone elections but the National Election Commission that seems manipulated.
 
The Assembly Minority Leader explained that in a constitutional crisis situation, the executive arm should have convened an emergency national consensus discussion with all stakeholders to decide on the fate of government vacuum.
 
Government Spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth earlier told journalists that any government funded commission is not completely autonomous except civil society because it is a regime institution that does not decide on its own.
 
Cabinet Affairs Minister Dr Martin Elia Lomurö told a press conference on Monday that the cabinet decision to adjourn elections and extend its presidency and National Legislature tenure was prudent under circumstances of disabled election commission without skilled work force and finance, absence of census and interfering security sector system.
