Heiban County authority in Nuba Mountains allocated one thousand eight hundred and eighty acres of land for farming to benefit civilians.

Speaking to Radio Voice of Peace, Heiban Agriculture Director, Rama Kabashi said the secretariat for agriculture, SPLM-N administration and local NGOs are setting plans to open farming fields to save people from hunger by the end of this year.

He added that cultivation fields would be opened in El-Azrek, Umdurdu and Khor Jamus areas to boost production.

Mr Kabashi called on the County communities to be prepared for farming activities.

The Director attributed poor harvest last year to poor rains, advising citizens not to mess up this year.
