Western Bahr El Ghazal State Assembly in one of its most ever discontented extra-ordinary sitting compromised to vet the appointed ministers amidst controversy.
Disagreement rose after some members raised dissatisfaction with the appointment of Deputy Governor Joseph Zachariah Garang and Finance Minister Lillian Valentino Rizik, saying they are not worthy to serve the state, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
Vetting Committee Chairperson James Wol Giir while reading their resolution cited disrespect and abuses directed by the Finance Minister towards legislators as reasons for her rejection.
MP Giir accused Ms Valentino of resuming work without apologizing to representative of the people of Western Bahr El Ghazal.
Controversy over the deputy governor forced the house speaker Andrea Mayor Acho to decide through a vote where 28 members out of 34 consent to the appointment with only nine objecting.
The controversy based on the assembly’s voting regulation of the simple majority rose tensions in the already divided parliament with some members walking out of the house.
The chaos in the assembly ended without coming in a common consensus of the regular sitting with members getting out of the speaker’s control prompting him to halt the sitting.
Speaker Acho later recommended issuing certificates to all appointed ministers because the situation in the state needs government presence.
