All students seating for exams from Saint Comboni and Saint Mary secondary schools in Juba and Terekeka respectively passed.
Central Equatoria Minister for Education Manase Lomole told the press this morning that out of
2,933 candidates who sat for final secondary school exams, 2,190 passed.
He added that there was an increase of students taking their exams and passing and it was very encouraging.
Mr. Lomole said this years’ results represented an improvement in examinations results after a decline of performance between 2005 and 2008.
He added that this year almost 75 percent of students passed the exams, compared to 69 percent of last year.
Francis Christo from Supiri Secondary School in Juba was the best student with a scored of 87.4 percent, followed by Tesneem Issa El Medeni from Rokon secondary school scored 83.6 percent.
Francis was from Arts section while Tesneen came from Sciences.
The results showed that private schools performed much better than public schools with average passing percentages of 82.9 percent passing against 77.1.
