Women Projection and Empowerment Manager in Ajoung Thok of Unity State said good relationship among family partners is an essential way of preventing intimate partner violence in communities.
Christiana Gbondo called on partners to have good communication, sit together, understand their family problems and look out for collective resolutions to prevent intimate partner violence, Radio Bakhita reported.
Talking during the launch of International Rescue Committee’s Intimate Partner Violence report in Juba titled ‘Partner violence, public concern’ last week, she appealed to police to play a key role in arresting perpetrators of the practice at the community level.
She said they examined contributing factors of violence among girls and women in conflict affected areas and discovered that about one in every three women experienced violence in their lives committed by their partners including husbands and boyfriends.
She said they are working on gender-based violence prevention and community empowerment by enlightening youth on the negative effects of gender-based violence.
