The German Development Bank (KfW) granted five million Euros to UNICEF Ethiopia to benefit estimated two hundred and fifty thousand South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia and vulnerable host communities.
UNICEF Ethiopia in a statement said the financial support aims to improve access to quality basic services including water, sanitation and hygiene, health, nutrition, education and child protection in Gambella region of Ethiopia.
Director of the German Development Bank (KfW) Office to Ethiopia and African Union Klaus Pfeiffer said the contribution would support the most vulnerable groups of South Sudan refugees especially children, their mothers and host communities.
UNICEF Representative Anupama Rao Singh expressed gratitude to KfW’s support which she said would improve access to quality basic services for refugees and Ethiopians in Gambella.
She believes the funding would significantly improve lives of women and children and strengthen the service delivery structure.
