European Union or EU on Monday launched in Easter Equatoria and six other states of South Sudan public financial management and payroll project to the tune of four point eight million Euros.
EU Technical Advisory team leader Elvis Walemba said the project aims to provide technical advice in financial management and support payroll system in the young nation, Radio Emmanuel reported.
Mr Walemba noted that the project involves supporting the country transfer management committee, which started in 2014, is expected to end next January.
Eastern Equatoria Deputy Governor Jerome Surur Gama described the project as important because it would eliminate ghost names in the state government payroll.
Mr Gerome praised the EU for training state officials on public financial management and payroll project, noting that the young country needs help before standing alone.
Officials from Local Government, Education, Health, Finance and Physical Infrastructure ministries and the state eight counties are attending the two-day training on the project.
