Parents in Western Bahr El Ghazal welcomed the establishment of four boarding schools in the state, calling for plans to sustain them.

Mohamed Hussein urged Education and Agriculture ministries to establish farms in each boarding school to produce enough food for students, Radio Voice of Hope reported.

Mr Hussein suggested that chiefs should offer land and the Agriculture ministry provides tractors to tilt the land because fees alone would not sustain the schools.

A social activist, Monica Hilario Haifa described the initiative as important to enable students to concentrate, but worried of finding English teachers.

Cecilia Diacon Julu, a civil servant said the boarding school would be a save place especially for girls to complete their studies, calling on parents to encourage their daughters to join the schools to realize their dreams.

Another parent, Dum Juma Suleiman expressed concern that boarding schools should have electricity, water and good teachers as important needs of students.

Western Bahr El Ghazal Education ministry last month announced establishment of four boarding schools to open in February.
