South Sudan Civil Society Alliance supported the National Elections Commissions announcement to conduct general elections in June, describing it as a ‘genuine call in any democratic practice’.
National Council Alliance Spokesperson who is the Executive Director for the Agency for Independent Media, David De Dau on Thursday told the press in Juba that the general elections conduct would avoid ‘vacuum scenarios’ in the country.
He stressed the need to work for peace, security, mitigation of humanitarian challenges and the looming hunger in the country.
The Alliance Chairperson Deng Athuai Mawiir Reham said the first priority is peace before elections.
The Civil Society Alliance officials spoke after their meeting on the general elections scheduled for the end of June.
