Yei Mayor on Monday met managers of banks and Chamber of Commerce to empower local traders to resolve obstacles facing them.
Santo Paul Lasuba said the meeting also aimed at the flow of the hard currency and address monopoly of retail business by wholesalers to sustain the local businesses, Radio Easter reported.
He urged the Chamber of Commerce to enact policies to guide traders while Municipality plan to take tough measures to bar selling of hard currencies in the black market.
Eden Commercial Bank Branch Manager Lasu Charles called on the Chamber to educate local business community on online trade to prevent some losses.
Municipal Chamber of Commerce Deputy Chairperson Taban Jacob reported that local traders always complain of lack of access to Dollars and that branch mangers favour foreign traders.
The officials spoke at the meeting on Monday at Yei Municipal hall.
