SPLM-North Negotiating Team Spokesperson announced that the Movement’s leadership decided to free 20 Sudan Armed Forces war prisoners as a sign of goodwill to show its seriousness for the up coming dialogue.
Mubarak Ardol told Radio Voice of Peace on Sunday that they received an order from their leadership after consultations of Deputy Chairman, Secretary-General, Army Chief of General Staff and other commanders.
He said the release of 20 war prisoners is a declaration of goodwill and recognition of their humanitarian situation ahead of the dialogue with government.
The International Committee for the Red Cross is expected to send a plane from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to transport the prisoners and hand them over to the government.
