About 40 women and children were killed this year in separate incidences in Loudo, Loronyo, Mura and Tirangore of Torit County, Eastern Equatoria State.
Torit Mayor Martin Odeki Oduho while addressing Christians on Sunday at Our Lady of Assumption Church, appealed to communities to stop killing of innocent women and children, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He called on the people of Loronyo to return to their villages, pledging that authorities would work hard to bring culprits to the book for peace to prevail.
In a related news development, Magwi County Commissioner Ben Kingston Loduk on Monday survived an accident at Magwi-Pajok road.
He was accompanying Vice President James Wani Igga on his tour in Magwi Payams, Radio Emmanuel reported.
