The Common Humanitarian Fund or CHF allocated 60 million US Dollars to respond to humanitarian needs in 2015 timely.

A statement CRN obtained indicated that the money would support aid agencies to take maximum advantage of the dry season where agencies plan to use roads to deliver aid.

Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan Toby Lanzer commended donors for the allocation granting humanitarian partners to hit the ground running from January 1, 2015.

He added that the allocation is only ten percent of 600 million Dollars humanitarian agencies need by the end of February to save more lives and reach all people in acute need.

The statement indicated that the largest portion of the CHF funding would support non-food items and emergency shelter, water, sanitation and livelihood supplies.

Seeds and tools must be in the right locations by April to enable communities to make the utmost use of the planting season and that a projection of 2.5 million people faces food insecurity between January and March, 2015 making the support critical.
