The Association for Media Development in South Sudan or AMDISS supported by the Norwegian People’s Aid is organizing a two-day dialogue forum between media and security on Friday and Saturday in Juba, Central Equatoria State.
The forum that is expected to bring together 60 participants: 30 from the security and 30 from the media is one of AMDISS key activities on advocacy work to enhance conducive working environment for media development in South Sudan.
Media-security dialogue is also to build mutual understanding, respect and good working relationship between the media and security personnel, create a platform for discussion and resolution of conflicts between them.
The forum is also expected to discuss how to deal with situation of difficulties on access to information that overrides the freedom of expression.
It would also tackle arrest and detention of journalists without trial in the courts of law and examine implications of the media laws on security.
AMDISS conducted a similar dialogue on December 16 and 17 in Kwajok, Warrap State.
