At least two people on Monday were shot dead in Torit town of Eastern Equatoria state over unclear brawl that ensued between two armed officers.
An SPLA captain, only identified as Kenyi and a prison officer, Ofere, were victims of the gun exchange that stirred fears among residents of Torit town, Radio Emmanuel reported.
Torit County Commissioner German Charles Ojok said reasons leading to the scuffle between the two armed officers are yet to be established.
He called on residents of Torit town to remain calm and continue their normal businesses without panicking.
Commissioner Ojok assured that security situation is stable and a guaranteed to everybody living in the town.
He disclosed that security across Torit town would be beefed as a safety measure to citizens during Christmas and New Year festival.
