Save the Children’s Country Director warned that the entire generation of South Sudan children is at risk as their situation deteriorated significantly.

In a statement CRN obtained on Monday, Peter Walsh stressed that children are at greater risk of harm, including child labour, early marriage, sexual violence, recruitment and use by armed forces and groups.

He called on all actors to increase their efforts to ensure the protection and care of children in the conflict.

The Country Director described children situation as ‘grave violations of children’s rights’ including abduction, killing and maiming, denial of assistance and attacks on schools and hospitals, calling for an end to abuses.

He lamented that those who survived the appalling violence are now at most risk and that more than half the populations are in need of aid.

A 17-year-old IDP in Bor UN Protection of Civilian said they are remember those killed in the conflict, pray that God takes their souls and peace returns to South Sudan for them to get out of the site and enjoy life like other children.

Another 15-year-old IDP said they remember how brutal they were forced out of their homes and ran over dead bodies in the middle of heavy gunfire.

The IDP lamented that in the first few months he came to terms with nightmares every night which he do not want to see again, calling on political leaders to stop violence to give them room to return home.
