Hundreds of people on Saturday turned up to attend prayers for peace in South Sudan at Torit Freedom Square.
Several religious leaders both female and male called on God to intervene for peace to prevail in the country, Radio Emmanuel reported.
A female evangelist, Eunice Nakiru, said the prayers aimed at crying to God for peace in Eastern Equatoria due to lots of bloodshed and lost of innocent lives.
Inter-Church Committee Chairperson Primo Silvio Odumno said the prayers were meant to bring peace to the state and the country at large.
He noted that similar prayers were organized in Juba, Central Equatoria and Yambio, Western Equatoria.
Eastern Equatoria citizens in Torit prayed for an end to killing of innocent women and children, cattle raiding and hatred in the state.
