Yei Municipal Deputy Mayor on Wednesday called for more workshops to build the capacity of law enforcement agents to understand laws to stop human rights violations and impunity.

Silvano Ali Sanguson lamented that it was surprising to see human rights violators moving freely after being inadequate imprisonment for two to three days, Radio Easter reported.

He said releasing perpetrators without penalty adds more problems to relatives of the abused by encouraging violent revenge.

The Deputy Mayor made the statement during Human Rights Day celebration at Yei Freedom Square.
