Women in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State on Wednesday during the commemoration of Human Rights Day decried their countless abuses with minor penalties to violators.
Yei Prison Warrant Officer Esther Africano lamented that many women were physically assaulted and killed in cold blood, Radio Easter reported.
She blamed law enforcement agents for inadequate imprisonment of violators, an act that encourages some men to continue abusing women.
Community Empowerment for Rehabilitation and Development Officer Khamis Benson stressed the need to improve the police special protection unit.
The speakers called on the state and the national governments to arrest, investigate and bring the women rights’ abusers to justice.
