El Obeid Catholic Diocese on Tuesday started a five-day workshop for 75 catechists from four parishes at Saints Peter and Paul parish in Nuba Mountains.
Fr Robert Philip who facilitated the workshop said the training focuses on continuous formation of catechists, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
He said the workshop is expected to address mainly issues of Baptism, Confirmation and the Liturgy, advising the faithful to cooperate with catechists in carrying out their pastoral work in the community.
Fr Philip called on the faithful to educate their children, saying as Catholic Christians, education begins at home.
The workshop is the first well organised training for catechists after priests meeting in September.
