Torit County Commissioner called for calm among people of Eastern Equatoria State following the killing of 30 mourners in Loronyo Payam on Saturday.
Charles German Ojok said mourners of Idali area of Imehejek Corridor of Torit County, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He urged Idali people to allow government to pursue the suspects to face the law.
The Commissioner in a separate incident said the attackers also killed eight other people at Idali before the Loronyo incident, bringing a total of people killed to 30.
He pledged government’s commitment to arrest and prosecute suspects to calm the.
One of the women in the state, Ercilan Akulu said they would one day stripe themselves naked and match on the streets in protest against killings of mothers in the state.
MP Flora Iliha said up to November, over 46 women died in Torit County, calling on UN to implement its protection mandate instead of defending suspects.
Saturday killings that angered women across the state followed a similar incident in July where 12 women and children from Omorwo village were killed at Baar.
The recent incident brings a total of 60 innocent women and children killed in the county this year.
