Caretaker ministers and presidential advisors from the government of South Sudan were relieved from duty today to pave the way for a new government to be announced soon.

GoSS spokesperson Paul Mayom told the press at the end of today’s cabinet meeting that President Salva Kiir Mayardit officially closed the old council of ministers.

Mr. Mayom, who headed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said Mr. Kiir was pleased with the outgoing ministers and advisors’ performance.

Mr. Mayom added that the cabinet discussed the pace of renovation works at the GoSS Genral Secretariat building including the President’s Office.

The ministers analyzed also the participation of the SPLM in the Government of National Unity noting it felt short of their expectations.

President Kiir is expected to announce his new cabinet soon after the publication of a presidential decree relieving ministers and presidential advisors from their offices.
