Eastern Equatoria health authorities deployed two rescue teams to provide medical assistance to people affected by an outbreak of meningitis in Budi County and Loronyo areas.
State minister for Health Felix Makuja told Emmanuel Radio that the deployment followed reports of about 15 meningitis cases in Loronyo.He addeed that one person died.
Mr. Makuja said so far three death cases and an unspecified number of affected people were reported in Budi County.
The minister added that he organized the two teams in conjunction with the World Health Organization and Merlin to intervene in the fight against the disease.
Press reports of two weeks ago said nine people died in Budi of meningitis.
Heath authorities dismissed the figure saying it was unconfirmed.
