UN Deputy Humanitarian Chief alarms ‘scale of needs great’

United Nations or UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs said she is heartbroken to see promising South Sudan nation suffering; alarming that the scale of humanitarian needs is great.
 
Kyung-wha Kang added in a statement that ‘however much UN scales up operations, it will never be able to do enough if the conflict continues destroying lives and livelihoods’.
 
She lamented that the warring parties must show leadership to bring peace to South Sudan.
 
The Humanitarian Affairs Assistant Secretary-General also called on the international community to continue providing humanitarian support to increase critical aid operations in the country.
 
Kyung-wha Kang made the statement after concluding a three-day visit to South Sudan on Friday.
