The Shilluk Youth Association called for the immediate release of four opposition members of the South Sudan Assembly detained in Upper Nile.

The four MPs, Samuel Aban Achien, Andrew Okony Ayom, Onyoti Adik Nyikec and Martha Angor Kur, represent the SPLM-DC in the Assembly.

They were arrested early last week after south Sudan Assembly unanimously revoked their immunity, SRS reported.

The chairman of the Shilluk Youth Association, Stephen Akol, told journalists in Khartoum on Tuesday that his association demanded the immediate release of the four MPs who were in the Assembly because they represent the voice of the Shilluk people.

He demanded that their parliamentary immunity be returned because they were the ones chosen by the Shilluk people.

Mr. Akol added that the four MPs were being held in connection with investigations into the killing of the paramount chief of Fangak County in Upper Nile state on May 22.
