Government Spokesperson on Tuesday cried out that regional bodies are scheming to change Juba regime; threatening invasion and takeover of the country as a United Nations or UN Protectorate.
Michael Makuei Lueth said when they were in Ethiopia they were threatened that South Sudan would be made a protectorate managed by regional forces and its resources to be given to nationals like food aid.
He explained that the regional bodies clearly wanted government leadership change, but found it difficult to do so.
The Spokesperson accused SPLM/A in Opposition of being stubborn enough to compromise for peace.
Mr Makuei wondered why regional bodies are targeting government change, yet according to him the Opposition is the problem.
He demanded Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD to enact sanctions on assets freeze, travel bans and arms’ embargo or more for Opposition forces.
Government and SPLM/A in Opposition remain firm on divergent positions on executive or non-executive Prime Minister’s powers in the transitional government of national unity.
The Government Spokesperson insists that should the Opposition continue to drag its foot on striking a peace deal, they would organize general elections in areas of control to save their legitimacy expiry on July 9, 2015.
