The UN Mission in Sudan yesterday congratulated the NCP and the SPLM for the formation of a new government of national unity.
In a press statement, UNMIS said it hoped that the new government would persevere in its resolve for achieving a stable and durable peace.The mission called for the credible referendum to be carried out in southern Sudan and Abyei.
UNMIS said the new government had on its shoulders the historic responsibility of implementing the CPA during the final year of the Interim Period.
The mission repeated its commitment to the full implementation of the CPA and underlined its readiness to help the parties with the referendum preparations.
