2.5 South Sudanese are expected to be in crisis or emergency from January to March 2015.

United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or UNOCHA reported that South Sudan conflict already created a dire food insecurity where Integrated Phase Classification analysis in September projected some 1.5 million people remaining in crisis and emergency phases until December.

OCHA added that over 900 thousand children remained malnourished in need of urgent help.

It explained that aid agencies continued to scale up efforts covering 3.5 million people, but more remain unreached.

The statement revealed that 2014 Crisis Response Plan was 61 percent funded by the end of October, but a gap of 697 million US Dollars is still required.

UNOCHA reminds the warring parties to protect civilians and respect international humanitarian law.
