Authorities in Yei County urged citizens to respect HIV positive people instead of singling them out and excluding them.
Yei County Aids Commission Coordinator, Chris Issa Gordon, told Easter Radio that citizens should stop pointing fingers at people who suffer from AIDS because the pandemic is real and patients needed care and treatment instead of discrimination.Mr. Issa said people should treat sexually transmitted infections as soon as possible because they were the pathways to HIV and AIDS contamination.
He added that citizens should not fear to go for voluntary counselling and testing in order to know their HIV and AIDS status.
Ms. Joyce SadiaClement, Data Collector for Yei County AIDS Commission, asked organizations, communities, the government and everyone in Sudan to join hands to fight the pandemic which was claiming too many lives in the Sudan and in Africa at large.
