Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop on Wednesday declared open the church building where the late Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite was buried to become a shrine accessible by all faithful in Western Equatoria State and beyond.

Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala anointed the tomb with chrism and sprinkled the Chapel at St Mary Parish with water to become a holy place for adoration, reflection and prayers in Yambio, Anisa Radio reported.

He urged Christians to respect the shrine, taking example of the Israelites who would always point to Jerusalem for life.

Bishop Hiiboro urged all children, teachers and everybody to bring their problems to the shrine and pray to the late Bishop Gasi to intercede to God.

The Catholic prelate said 40 days after the burial of Bishop Gasi were given to finish building his tomb, rehabilitate the Chapel and the last day people celebrate the life of the missing person with joy.

He said the four-day prayers to end the 40 days were for giving thanks to all the faithful for their solidarity and celebrate the successful life of Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite who passed away in Yambio on September 13, 2014.
