WES launches sexual exploitation campaign

Western Equatoria government and UN bodies operating in the state on Thursday launched a campaign against sexual exploitation and abuses in Yambio.
 
State Deputy Governor Sapana Abui urged civil servants and everybody concerned to accept mistakes and divert from manipulating their power against the vulnerable, Anisa Radio reported.
 
He cautioned the government and partners against pointing hands to others, advising Western Equatoria and South Sudan citizens to stop importing foreign cultural practices that jeopardize national ones.
 
UN Human Rights Officer Pilar Cuiesta Mota urged post holders to support sexual exploitation campaign, saying refugees, IDPs and learners are facing challenges from their authorities who ask them to pay for their rights to be granted.
 
Western Equatoria Acting Minister for Gender, Child and Social Development West Yugule said the campaign against sexual exploitation and abuses was the first of its kind in the state.
 
The occasion that started with a procession from Yambio Freedom Square to Cultural Centre brought together government officials, women groups, students and youths.
