World Health Organization or WHO Representative recommended that all countries, including South Sudan should set up laboratories for testing Ebola cases and establish preparedness committees.
Wamala Joseph during a media orientation on Thursday said all countries should have capacities to manage travellers from affected countries, establish rapid response and well equipped isolation units.
He added that all nations should have minimum stock of protective equipments, case management team trained in infection prevention and control and public communication strategy to avoid Ebola out breaks.
Mr Joseph said very strong political leadership is important for controlling an outbreak in the country, citing good example of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni who spearheaded the response of the previous Ebola outbreak.
He said it is the government’s priority to respond to any disease outbreak.
The WHO representative advised that early detection of Ebola is very critical, citing high risk of contracting it through a broken skin or mucus membrane among others.
Mr Joseph said Ebola affected five West African countries, DR Congo, Spain and USA, adding that Marburg virus was confirmed in the neighbouring Uganda.
